Overview
Issue
Robert Clack School was looking for a front of classroom display solution to refresh their teaching spaces across all departments, from beauty to maths, to bring an enhanced focus on interactivity into the classroom.
Solution
Working with Computer Talk, who became the school’s in-house IT support team in March 2020, sixty-one 75” and seven 86” interactive displays were rolled out.
Result
The products were chosen for their integration with the Google workspace, to bring consistency to all teaching spaces and for the remote management features.
Project
Robert Clack School has been enhancing its teaching spaces since 2017 when it embarked upon a phased programme one block at a time. The front of classroom display technology was a subject of much debate, with the school looking to move from traditional overhead projectors with an accompanying drop-down screen, to a solution that can incorporate interactivity and present options for collaborative hybrid learning.
The school wanted to be able to access documents from the Cloud, provide a consistent experience for teachers when moving between spaces and maximise remote management features for updates, daily management tasks, and maintenance to streamline the IT team’s operations.
Solution
BenQ’s RP series of interactive displays was selected as the perfect solution. The 75” and 86” screen sizes were ideal for the mix of classroom set ups and ensuring that students have a clear view of the board from all seating positions. The user-friendly interface makes the displays intuitive for teachers to use and to enhance their lessons with collaborative features. The multitouch capability of the displays means students can join teachers at the front and interact on documents with them, transforming the classroom and learning experience. The teaching team have also embraced EZ Write, BenQ’s interactive whiteboard software that is installed on every display, and available through a web browser to enable collaboration from any device. Students can work together in real-time, accessing the same document, sharing screens and working simultaneously to make updates.
The school has had an OKTOPUS licence since 2019 and they are able to access templates and materials directly from the displays and incorporate them into their teaching. The displays have been designed to connect seamlessly with the Google Workspace, so teachers can log on and access their Cloud based documents and lesson plans. This means that they can confidently teach without needing any additional devices or cables.
BenQ’s proprietary ClassroomCareTM features help to create a healthy learning environment. A Germ-Resistant coating comprising of a nano-ionic silver agent prevents germs from accumulating on screen surfaces. Both displays also boast Smart Eye-Care features including Flicker-Free and Low Blue Light technology to ensure a comfortable viewing experience. The displays can be managed remotely by the IT team using the Device Management Solution (DMS). This allows control from a central portal to manage and monitor each display remotely, to install, configure and delete applications, to turn displays on or off and monitor and analyse daily operation data.
Result
Robert Clack School has achieved a great continuity between teaching environments, enabling teachers to move between spaces with confidence that the setup will be the same in every classroom. By being able to access the Cloud and their One Drives, the team can share documents directly from the displays, so no additional devices are needed ensuring a quick start and smooth session. “The phased renovations are still continuing and the departments that haven’t yet had the BenQ displays are keen to get their hands on them! They have heard about the great features and capabilities for streamlining teaching and want to put them into practice.”
“When we have them all in place, we are planning to work with BenQ on some additional training for the teaching teams to ensure they are getting the best use of all the features.”-Steve Camilleri, Network and Systems Manager for Computer Talk, in partnership with Robert Clack School
