Eindhoven, the Netherlands, October 19, 2012 – BenQ, an internationally renowned provider of digital lifestyle innovations and LED monitor expert, is pleased to announce the latest addition to its GW Series, its essential line for everyday home and work: the GW60. Boasting a sleek, 16mm slim bezel design with VA panel technology, LED backlighting, versatile connectivity and the all new comfort-boosting Reading Mode and power-efficient Eco Mode via BenQ-exclusive Senseye Human Vision technology, this incredible display is all set to deliver premium visual enjoyment for work and play while complementing even the most sophisticated décor. For everyday computer users looking to manage their needs for essential home and office use, the GW60 could be everything you're looking for and more.
Beautiful from every angle, the GW60 conveys modern elegance and superior strength through a sense of visual fluidity enacted by the free-flowing light emerged from its high-gloss 16mm slim bezel and base stand and streamlined by a curvaceous neck. The race car-inspired carbon fiber-textured finish at the rear line further boosts the overall design of the display. Furthermore, a slim bezel design not only gives the GW60 a nice, clean look, it also makes multi-panel configuration for home entertainment and office viewing a simple luxury to enjoy.
Featuring a Full HD 1080p resolution and ultra-fast 4ms GtG response time, the GW60 brings the highest viewing standard to its users, displaying images, motion pictures and text with optimum clarity. Taking advantage of VA technology and LED backlighting, the GW60 adds astonishing color depth and definition to darkened, complex images with the greatest subtlety and clarity with an ultra-high native contrast ratio of 5000:1, which is five times of that of general panels, and an infinite dynamic contrast ratio. Other benefits of a VA LED monitor include a true 8-bit panel for smoother color transition, true black display, minimized light leakage, 178˚/178˚ wide-viewing angle from left, right, above and below, as well as lower power consumption than conventional CCFL monitors.
The GW60 is designed with two new display modes built via BenQ's very own Senseye® Human Vision technology, which incorporates six proprietary calibration techniques to achieve the best viewing quality in each of its pre-set viewing modes.
• Reading Mode: Designed to bring a more comfortable reading experience to users, this special mode recreates the experience of reading actual books by adjusting the monitor's color temperature, brightness, contrast ratio and sharpness to simulate the look of printed paper. This helps reduce the risk of computer eye strain caused by prolonged and focused use of eyes on computer monitors.
• Eco Mode: The improved Eco Mode adjusts the backlight brightness level intelligently according to the image source so that the highest display quality is presented with the highest energy efficiency. This smart feature reduces at least 37% of the power consumed by document viewing, Internet browsing and emailing, and up to 44% of the power consumed by gaming.
The GW60 comes in three different models, each with different connectors to support your digital entertainment needs: GW2260, GW2460 and GW2760 (D-Sub; DVI-D); GW2260M (D-Sub; DVI-D; Line-In; Headphone Jack); GW2260HM, GW2460HM and GW2760HM (D-Sub; DVI-D; HDMI; Line-in; Headphone Jack). The GW/M and GW/HM models also come equipped with two built-in 1W speakers to complete your audiovisual enjoyment without the hassle of connecting to additional audio devices.
"The GW60 is a perfect embodiment of BenQ's no-compromise passion for bringing enjoyment and quality to everyday life through striking aesthetics, powerful visual performance and friendly features. We are pleased to announce that with the launch of GW60 as a start to fully upgrade BenQ's VA LED monitor range, people can expect to see all new VW Series and BL Series models to follow." said Peter Chen, EVP and General Manager of BenQ Technology Product Center. "Here at BenQ, we are always thinking of ways to provide consumers with choices that suit their lifestyles while working hard to extend our leadership in every market segment. By leveraging the vertical integration of BenQ Group and the strengthened relationship with AUO, one of the industry giants in TFT-LCD panel manufacturing, we have already achieved a tremendous growth of 2.5 times for our VA LED monitor business in the first half of 2012 compared to the same period of 2011. It's certainly an exhilarating feeling to see that we've proven doing right by our customers is good business."
BenQ's new GW60 (21.5" and 24") are already available in Europe in October.
