The prolific popularity of internet shopping and the resultant packaging waste has adversely impacted our environment. BenQ acknowledges the need to strike a balance between product packaging and minimizing its environmental impact. To that end, we have launched a new type of packaging called “BenQ Projector Molded Pulp Packaging” which fillers to protect the device, greatly reducing the environmental impact. This approach has earned BenQ the prestigious iF Gold Award 2019, the Oscar in the design world.
“BenQ is a human-oriented brand,” said Conway Lee, President of BenQ Corporation. “We believe that design and technology should serve the true needs of human beings and help them achieve their goals. BenQ is considering the product’s environmental impact which starts from the product transportation to its use. With Total Product Life Cycle thinking, BenQ has designed minimized and easy-to-recycle packaging for its products to make them environmentally-friendly.
BenQ Projector Molded Pulp Packaging uses outer boxes with green cushioning that provides adequate protection without additional padding. This approach has successfully protected the product from damage due to rough handling and other forms of impact. Placing the package handle inside the box thereby flattening the top side of the box drives effective use of space during storage and transportation. BenQ has made it simple for the end user to unpack the product, with only one step to remove the product. The non-composite molded pulp materials are easy to recycle, while the waterproof components can protect the box from moisture deformations.
The iF jury pointed out that “BenQ Projector Molded Pulp Packaging” is an excellent example of sustainable and trendy packaging without being a slave to the trend! What’s remarkable is that there is no glue used in the construction and no additional protective padding, yet it successfully passed a drop and crash test. Aesthetically well done, with a modern and sleek approach to the finish.
For 66 years, the iF DESIGN AWARD has been recognized as an arbiter of quality for exceptional design and the iF DESIGN AWARD is one of the most important design prizes in the world. The iF label represents its recognition for the outstanding design services. Only few products can be qualified for the prestigious iF Gold Award. Established in 2019 by a group of independent industry experts, the iF panel of judges assessed 6,375 products submitted, among which only 66 products were awarded the iF Gold Award.
In 2019, BenQ earned the iF Gold Award for BenQ Projector Molded Pulp Packaging, and also obtained awards for other products including the W1700 Projector, W5700 Projector, GV1 Projector, and ScreenBar Monitor Intelligent Lighting System. Product features are as follows:
W1700 Projector W1700 is a true 4K HDR projector designed for A/V enthusiasts to enjoy an authentic digital cinema experience at home. The center of gravity mark is to help install the projector by avoid tilting too much. The adjustable feet for setting the image height are on the outer edges for easy access. The focus and zoom ring offers large contact area for the user to make adjustments with just one finger while keeping their eyes on the screen. The built-in light sensor detects light sources and sets the brightness/color mode accordingly. With simple rounded lines and neutral tones, W1700 accentuates beautiful aesthetics to fit home decoration.
W5700 Projector W5700 is a true 4K DLP home cinema projector with 100% DCI-P3 Cinematic Color, designed for A/V enthusiasts. The matte black appearance integrates itself perfectly into the dark media room. Its front panel is also applied with matte to prevent reflected glare from visual discomfort. Air exhaust vents tilt backwards to prevent light leak from affecting image quality, while vertical louvers of the air inlet vents reduce dust accumulation due to long-term suspension for stable projection performance. A protective cover is placed above the lens to shield it from damage during transportation and from dust from affecting image quality.
GV1 Projector GV1 is a portable LED projector designed for the binge-watching enthusiast. Its innovative vertical design reduces setup hassles and allows instant image adjustment. The unique hinge plus auto keystoning make it easy to project images at any height. With the built-in battery and powerful chamber speakers, users can turn any space into their private cinema. A single optical glass protects the lens and the IR receiver while reducing visual clutter. The yolk yellow belt infuses a light-hearted characteristic to GV1 and highlights its hinge design. With its lively-yet-classic design, GV1 fits into any interior décor perfectly, creating a perfect private AV space.
ScreenBar ScreenBar is a revolutionary lighting system. Simply hang it on your monitor to light up your desk without taking up any valuable space. With an automatic dimmer and asymmetric optical design, ScreenBar illuminates your workspace, avoiding reflective glare off your computer screen. And this is done with just USB power. On the WiT ScreenBar, light sensors and control buttons are integrated in the lamp. The WiT ScreenBar Plus offers a desktop controller which is coaster-sized for faster lighting adjustment.
