Curators at the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum required a projector with advanced projection capabilities to recreate key scenes from the film, The Three-Body Problem, for a promotional event during an expo.
Solution
To recreate an important scene from The Three-Body Problem, a massive singular image was required. Utilizing three BenQ High Brightness Large Venue Projectors, the curators could create a seamless projection that provided movie quality, ultra-high definition images without any noticeable gaps between the individual projections. Employing BenQ's array of optional lens, the museum decided on a wide angle lens to display every pixel of the film's scene, while the dual-lamp design guaranteed a 7000 Lumens brightness for a crystal clear image.
Result
The museum’s curators were ecstatic about the projectors’ performance. The Integrated Filtration system made it possible to keep the projectors in peak condition, even during construction of the art installation and expo, consequently preventing any debris and dust from reaching the sensitive components of the projectors. Additionally, the internal 6–segment color wheel provided a vibrant color range that surprised and enthralled the team in charge of the project.

Challenge
As one of the most prosperous and foremost leaders in technology, the city of Shanghai is seen as a place for innovation. As an industry leader, the standards for performance and execution are set quite high, so to achieve these lofty expectations, many places must go above and beyond. The Shanghai International Popular Science Products Expo is no exception.
For its 2015 exhibition, the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum needed to recreate a visually-arresting key scene from the sci-fi film, The Three-Body Problem. To achieve the film producers’ vision, and meet the visual aesthetics of the film, the museum’s curators employed three High Brightness Large Venue Projectors to create a massive singular projection to capture the scale and emotions of the film’s key scene, leaving a lasting impression on both the film industry executives and patrons of the expo.
Solution
Vividly reproducing a movie scene is no small feat, to do so, the curators needed projectors that were not only capable of delivering the highest quality images but equipped with flexible installation to meet any shortcomings of the venue’s layout. Furthermore, a primary concern of the leaders of the project was the high volume of dust that would be kicked up by the expo’s attendees over the multiple days-long event. Designed to keep dust and debris out, BenQ’s Integrated Filtration system, was the ideal solution to this concern. Moreover, the dual-lamp system of the projectors provided long hours of perfect operation. Should one of the lamps within the projector go out, the other would kick into gear and maintain a stable, flawless picture.
The Shanghai Science & Technology Museum trusted BenQ to provide the high-performance, Hollywood-quality images required for the demanding installation. In utilizing three Large Venue projectors with High Lumens Brightness, the curators pulled off the project without any issues, and the guests of the expo were impressed with the size and scale of the installation.
Result
During the Shanghai International Popular Science Products Expo, BenQ’s professionally installed projector, PU9730 successfully recreated an essential movie scene by employing the projectors key features: projection mapping to deliver a hologram-like performance that melted away the walls of the expo to transport the visitors on a genuinely immersive journey through a futuristic atmosphere, that maintained and enhanced all the charms and charisma of The Third-Body Problem. Providing the thrilling experience the curators and film's producers desired, the installation was hailed as a massive success.
