For esport athletes, being able to see accurate pictures during fast movement is of vital importance; and the gaming industry isn't shy about their demand for better quality and performance as technology evolves.

BenQ has launched Dynamic Accuracy (DyAc™/DyAC+™), an exclusive BenQ ZOWIE technology designed to reduce the eye tracking motion blur seen in LCD technology during gameplay. As the company’s successor to Blur Reduction, DyAc™ improves performance and clarity and provides the user with a more immersive gaming experience.

Read on to find out how!

What causes motion blur?

Even with a fast CPU, a powerful GPU and a high refresh rate gaming monitor, you can still experience motion blur and can be left feeling unsatisfied with your gaming experience.

This is because most modern gaming displays are made of individual pixels. If you looked really closely at your screen you’re likely to be able to identify each pixel. Modern pixel technology allows for thinner displays that don’t overheat, but that doesn’t mean this technology is immune to its drawbacks, meaning that motional blur occurs and pixels change colours.

Motion blur is mainly caused by a lingering effect. When an image disappears from the display, it lingers for a short period. Despite being less noticeable at higher frame rates, the lingering images cause a small degree of motion blur, which gamers don’t appreciate.

How does DyAc™ from BenQ ZOWIE work to reduce motion blur?

DyAc™ is the exclusive technology from BenQ ZOWIE that uses a method called backlight strobing. Backlight strobing improves overall motion clarity by successfully hiding the LCD pixel response from the human eye. The backlight is turned off while waiting for pixel transitions, and then turned on only when full-refreshed LCD frames are loaded. This helps to avoid unwanted afterimages since there is no residual light from a previous fixed point. In other words, you do not see a lingering image (motion blur) because there is no light beam passing through more than one point at a time.

This technique is specifically designed for reducing the blur of very fast and erratically moving objects, such as when your screen is shaking due to firing with a gun with a heavy recoil or using holosight while running.

Previously, the LCD panel was a standard component. However, ZOWIE has customised the panel and also made exclusive modifications to the circuitry and firmware settings. Without changing the content of games, DyAc™/DyAc⁺™ provides clearer moving images, especially for FPS games.

What games can it be applied to?

DyAc™ is perfect for RPG PVP games like Valorant, Apex Legends or Rainbow Six Siege.

In APEX, players can quickly change position with momentum shift or wall jump and characters have their own set of abilities for fast moving like Octane shown in the video. When aiming and moving the crosshair, DyAc™/DyAc⁺™ makes the background be seen with less of a blur when moving quickly, that helps to see the enemy more clearly, thereby helping to target the enemy.

In Valorant, characters have their own set of abilities like Jett with its faster movement. When aiming and moving the crosshair, DyAc™/DyAc⁺™ makes the background look less blurry; and that helps to see the enemy more clearly.

In Rainbow Six Siege, DyAc™ / DyAc+™ reduces the motion blur, helping you recognize the enemies earlier during quick peeks. In addition, DyAc™ / DyAc+™ can lower the motion blur caused by vigorous shaking of explosives, helping you to sense the enemies during the explosion.

In conclusion, DyAc™ significantly reduces motion resolution and input lag, allowing players to further immerse themselves into the gaming experience. The BenQ ZOWIE proprietary technology strikes the right balance between refresh rate and motion clarity, so that you can comfortably keep track of the action while under intense movement during gameplay.

DyAc™ / DyAc+™ technology can be found exclusively built-in to the BenQ ZOWIE esports monitors range.
